Health Committee

At Wincle, we think that learning how to look after and care for ourselves is a life-skill that we can all help each other to learn. Our Health Committee lead us in that learning, planning initiatives to teach us about eating balanced diets, exercising, staying hydrated, keeping clean and getting enough sleep. They also help us to learn about managing our mental health, grow food in our kitchen garden to use in our school dinners and plan fundraising events for well-being charities.

Here are our Chair and Vice Chair newly elected this academic year.

Healthy Committee Minutes - 1st October 2025

Miss Williams welcomed the children and introduced the committee. Together, the children discussed the word “healthy” and what it means to keep ourselves healthy. The children noted healthy food, healthy body, healthy mind, healthy words and healthy choices. The children then nominated themselves for the roles of chair and vice chair and took part in an anonymous vote for chair, then vice chair. The selected chair was Ariella and the vice chair was Georgia. The children ended the session thinking of one idea the committee could put into practice in school. Their idea was: having an option to try a completely new item of food once a week during playtime.

Healthy Committee Minutes - 28th April 2025

The health committee met today and had a great meeting.

We thought about the assembly that we had led, where we told the school all the things we need to do to keep healthy.

Then the chair and vice chair talked us through a “Keeping Healthy” PowerPoint.

We looked at three main areas, exercise, healthy diet and healthy minds. We then wrote on post it notes ways in which we could promote these in school.

The Keeping Healthy Committee had a great meeting today (29/1/25). We talked about the importance of being healthy and the things we can do to help us keep healthy.   Next week we are going to lead worship and we will be explaining all the different ways we have thought about keeping healthy. Each child has made a poster about what they are going to talk about and then after the worship the posters will be displayed around school to help remind us all about keeping healthy.
