Advert for a part-time Teaching Assistant to start 1st September 2024

 

Wincle Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic teaching assistant who is committed in ensuring the children at Wincle have access to a wide range of high-quality experiences.

 

We are a small, rural primary school set in the idyllic Peak District National Park. The nature of this role will require the successful applicant to work in two roles:

*Role 1: general teaching assistant supporting children in year two and three from 12.30-3.30pm three days a week.

*Role 2: running wraparound care for a small group of children from 3.30-6.00pm three days a week

Grade: 4 at £12.18 an hour
Number of hours: 16.5
Number of weeks: 39 weeks a year
Contract: temporary for one year with a view to becoming permanent

Start Date: 1st September 2024
 

Role 1

This role will involve being a general teaching assistant for a key stage one/two class supporting the pupils in their learning. Direction will be given from class teacher allowing you to support in a wide variety of activities across the curriculum. The role will be based in our Year Two/Three class, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 12.30pm till 3.30pm.

 

Role 2

Our wraparound provision is called All Stars and is a well-established provision thoroughly enjoyed by many pupils across the school. We offer this provision each night across a week from the school hall, running after school till 6pm. The staff member and pupils receive a delicious evening meal and enjoy many different learning experiences using all of school’s resources. This role will involve the organisation and running of activities and serving a pre-prepared evening meal in a nurturing way to the pupils on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Successful candidates must be able to work closely with class teachers and headteacher to enhance all pupils’ social, moral, cultural and spiritual development. This role requires effective communication skills, excellent teamwork skills and high expectations and standards for attainment, achievement and behaviour. The successful candidate is expected to be committed to all aspects of school life and support the Christian ethos of the school.

 

A minimal level three qualification in supporting teaching and learning is desirable.

Wincle C of E (A) Primary School is committed to safeguarding children and young people therefore all post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedure. Appointment is subject to the completion of pre-employment checks which will include References (which will be taken up prior to interview), Health, Right to Work in the UK, enhanced DBS and a Declaration with regard to the Disqualification by Association Regulations.
