We are looking to appoint a teaching assistant for 28 hours a week, from September 2024.

 

Wincle Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our hard-working team. We require a creative and highly motivated person to support the pupils in our school and to support the teachers in ensuring the children at Wincle have access to a wide range of high-quality experiences.  

 

We are a small, rural primary school set in the idyllic Peak District National Park. Our mission statement is ‘Shine like stars’ from the Bible book of Philippians and through this, we encourage all of our children, and staff, to shine like stars in their work, attitude, behaviour and relationships.

 

The nature of this role will require the successful applicant to demonstrate flexibility, a knowledge of the Early Years Framework, the National Curriculum and an ability to use their initiative, work as part of a team and support both staff and pupils throughout the school day. The role will include supporting individual pupils as well as leading small group work and intervention.

Grade: 4 at £12.18 an hour
Number of hours: 28 hours across five days: three full days and two half days. Please note that we can support working parents around school drop offs.
Number of weeks: 39

Contract: fixed term till August 31st 2025 with a view to become permanent.
 

Main responsibilities:

*To support individual children at key times throughout the school day.

*To run interventions that support pupils’ emotional health and well-being.
*To be a general support to classes in an afternoon.
*To take direction from the headteacher and respond providing support when and where it is needed.

 

Successful candidates must be able to deliver good teaching and learning to individuals, small groups and work closely with class teachers to enhance all pupils’ social, moral, cultural and spiritual development. This role requires effective communication skills, excellent teamwork skills and high expectations and standards for attainment, achievement and behaviour. The successful candidate is expected to be committed to all aspects of school life and support the Christian ethos of the school.

Wincle C of E (A) Primary School is committed to safeguarding children and young people therefore all post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedure. Appointment is subject to the completion of pre-employment checks which will include References (which will be taken up prior to interview), Health, Right to Work in the UK, DBS and a Declaration with regard to the Disqualification by Association Regulations.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged after shortlisting has taken place.
