Collective worship is integral to the life of our school and takes place across the school each day both in the morning and afternoon. Each day, all classes begin with a short worship involving a prayer, opportunities for reflection and a chance to look forward to the day ahead.
The whole school then meet each afternoon for Collective Worship. It is planned and evaluated each term with children, clergy and staff, in line with our key values for the half term and tailored to the needs of the school. The Headteacher, members of the church, staff and pupils lead collective worship.
Pupils participate actively in collective worship, planning, delivering worship, leading prayers, key messages.
On a Friday, we are joined in church by the large majority of our parents for Celebration Worship, where we celebrate all of the children who have shone like a star.
We use Roots and Fruits, as well as Picture News to enhance our worship.

In worship this afternoon, we were identifying how life sometimes throws us an ‘ow’moment and that our core value of Hope is so important in times of need. We identified how we might portray during an ‘ow’ moment and we are keen to learn how we can help and support each other through these.

In worship this afternoon, we focused on a very personal issue to Wincle School. Having not been open for the last three days due to having no water in our bore hole, the children learnt about how this had happened, the reasons why and then linked back to their learning about the sustainable development goals. Having been impacted personally, the children are very keen to ensure they spread the word about these goals and focus their energy on saving water for not only their use, but for others

This afternoon in our school worship, we looked at our school’s value of hope. We listened to the story of Noah and how he needed to have hope that God’s plan was right. We then thought about what we are hoping for this year in school to make our ‘We hope to shine’ display.

In worship yesterday, we revised our knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals which linked brilliantly to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. We can’t believe how many the children remembered!

In worship, we have been continuing to learn about the purpose of the Bible. We know it has 66 books inside it and yesterday, we looked at the big story told by all of these books. The children recalled their prior knowledge brilliantly and worked hard sequencing pictures of the big story.

In worship yesterday, we began to focus on the very special book – the Bible. The children collected 66 books and built a tower that Mrs G found very difficult to hold onto. They were shocked to find that there are actually 66 books in the Bible. They then put the English knowledge to the test and identified a range of genres. They were pleased to be able to spot the many different genres of the books in the Bible and moving forward over the next few weeks developing their knowledge.
