Safety Committee

The best way to stay safe is to look out for each other and our safety committee work with Mrs. Metcalfe to lead us in doing exactly that. In addition to surveying our school site for health and safety issues and running initiatives to teach pupils about sun safety and cyber-safety, the committee meets regularly with our local PCSO to keep us safe in the community.

Meet the Chair and Vice Chair for this academic year.

Safety Committee Meeting - 28th April 2025

The Safety Committee met this week.

Our recommendations for playing safely outside in the winter months were reviewed and adjusted in relation to the warmer weather.  The committee agreed that some of the problems had improved and that the children had stopped tying the skipping ropes onto things.

We then used our time to make posters to display on our committee board.

The posters say:

  • Don't run down the ramp

  • Don't crawl through the handrails

  • Don't swing off the branch in the holly bush

  • Be careful around the ledge near the prayer garden

  • Don't jump from the prayer garden to the fort area

AH took the minutes and VG (vice chair) stepped up as chair in HW's absence.

Well done Safety Committee!  You were very productive.

Safety Committee Meeting - 29th January 2025

The safety committee met this month and discussed keeping safe during the winter.

We shared tips for keeping safe on the playground, especially keeping hockey sticks down but not so that they get broken.  We also discussed playing safely on the fort - not running on it.  We want to make sure that the whole school play safely and that we look after and store our play equipment correctly.

The chair and vice chair led the meeting, inclusively ensuring that all ages and abilities contributed.  Minutes were taken by our secretary.

At our next meeting we will make some posters to share our ideas and suggestions across our school.
