Sports Committee
At Wincle, we think that learning how to look after and care for ourselves is a life-skill that we can all help each other to learn. Our Sports Committee leads the way in helping our pupils to live active lifestyles by leading regular sporting activities at break and lunchtimes, encouraging movement breaks in the classroom, leading exercise campaigns and running cross-curricular days. In recognition of their successes, they achieved the Gold School Games Mark last year. We are working to achieve the platinum award this year.
Meet the Chair and Vice Chair of our Sports Committee for this year.

In September, the newly formed Sports Committee for the first time to appoint a Chair and Vice Chair. They also discussed the play equipment to be used at playtimes, the timetable for sports at lunchtime and shared ideas for a whole school 'keep fit' event in November.
Sports Committee Meeting - 1st October 2025
Welcomed the committee and Mrs Roberts explained all the great achievements and support last year.
-
Aim of the committee - lots of discussion about being fair and joining in, having a variety of activities not just football.
Agreed that the committee is to make inclusive sports activities
-
Playground games timetable - there is limited space now so important to be safe for everyone and younger children feel they need time for football too. They would like to keep Kyle refereeing on Friday but want another lunch slot.
-
Voting for a leader and vice - discussed what the role involves and importance of committee helping too. (children talked about all the activities last year) Mrs Roberts would like Committee to have training on small games they can all lead at playtimes. Committee voted for leaders and it was a close draw - Irah Y6 Chair and Cameron Y3 Vice - everyone was told they are valued members. Photo taken of the committee.
-
Playground equipment - please encourage everyone to tidy up.
Action:
Committee members - to ask in their classes what activities they would like at lunch time play, feedback to Mrs Roberts
Mrs Roberts - to make Sports Committee display board showing aims, the committee members and Sports values.
Arrange training for the Sports Committee on leading small activities during play time.
Sports Committee Meeting - 29th January 2025
Children discussed at length the lunch time Team games timetable and use of equipment. Children would like to find out the views of other children regarding playing netball, basketball and football. Children have suggested another team game of 'Dodgeball' to take place instead of one of the existing Team games, for which there are plenty of age appropriate dodgeballs. Football Fridays is not always involving all children in the correct place so Mrs Roberts will sort this out with Coach Kyle. Netball posts will be moved into place for Monday lunchtime and children must remember to ask staff if not in place. Sports Committee can get balls from the PE cupboard if there are no others that are good enough to play with. Children will find out views of the whole school and have time in Worship to explain any changes and go over the rules of Team games at lunchtime and use of equipment.
